Trent scored a 5-1 overtime win against sixth-ranked Ty Eustice and Travis defeated 10th-ranked Joe Johnston, 7-4 to give ISU a 15-13 advantage heading into the final match at 165 pounds.
Passolano, a returning 165-pound NCAA qualifier wrestling in just his third match of the season, closed out the Cyclone win in emphatic fashion pinning Pape in 36 seconds.
Iowa State redshirt freshman Kurt Backes contributed to the ISU victory with a 4-3 decision over 14th-ranked Paul Bradley at 184 pounds. Backes, down 3-2 with 34 seconds left in the third period, registered a takedown seven seconds later to overtake Bradley.
The Cyclones improved their dual record to 7-0 and the Hawkeyes fall to 4-1 on the season.
