Stinson Rookie of the Week...Again

AMES, Iowa--Iowa State freshman Curtis Stinson earned his third Big 12 Rookie of the Week award for games ending Feb. 1, helping ISU to two victories during the week. Stinson won Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors Dec. 22 and Jan. 11.

Stinson's performance during the week helped Iowa State down Texas A&M (91-82) and upset No. 12 Kansas (68-61). The Bronx, N.Y., native scored 14 points (5-11 FG) and dished out a game-high five assists against Texas A&M.

Stinson's heroics against Kansas lifted the Cyclones to their first victory over a ranked opponent in over two years, ending a 13-game losing streak to ranked foes. He scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half to help ISU rally and defeat the Jayhawks.

Stinson scored his 16 second-half points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field. His floater with 32 seconds remaining gave ISU a 66-61 lead and sealed the victory for the Cyclones.

Stinson also grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds against KU, notching his third double-double of the season. Stinson and Texas freshman P.J. Tucker have both won Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors three times this season.
