Dawson Signs with Fennelly's Program

AMES, Iowa -- Seirra Dawson, a 5-10 wing from Tupelo, Miss., has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Iowa State in 2004-05, head coach Bill Fennelly announced today. Dawson is the third member of the incoming class of Cyclones.

"We are excited that Seirra is joining our program," Fennelly said. "We found out about her late in the process and we feel fortunate that someone of her quality was available. She is a great young person and will add a great deal to Iowa State University on and off the court."

The three-year starter averaged 27 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and five steals as a senior, leading Nettleton High School to the 2004 Class 3A Division 2 championship and a 21-10 record. She was voted team MVP and earned Class 3A all-North Mississippi honors as well as all-division and first-team all-area accolades from the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal.

Dawson scored a career-best 51 points vs. Hamilton High last season despite sitting out the entire second quarter. She also posted a 39-point effort against Hatley High.
