Edwards Named Director of Basketball Operations

AMES, Iowa--David Edwards, who spent the last three seasons as video coordinator for the Iowa State men's basketball program, has been appointed director of basketball operations, ISU head coach Wayne Morgan announced Wednesday.

"We are extremely excited to announce the promotion of David Edwards to director of basketball operations," Morgan said. "In the two years that I have been here, Dave has done an incredible job in assisting us. He is a tireless worker and will be a great asset to our program."

A native of Johnston, Iowa, Edwards began his tenure at ISU in 2001-02 as video coordinator. He handled all video operations, including filming, editing and all film exchange. He was in charge of all video breakdown for scouting and played an integral part in all scouting reports. Edwards was also the director for ISU's satellite camps held in various towns across the state of Iowa during the summer since 2002. Edwards will continue to coordinate ISU's video operations as well as assisting with team travel and various administrative duties in his new role.

"I am thankful for the opportunity to continue working for Coach Morgan," Edwards said. "I am excited for the new tasks and challenges that are with this position."

The 27-year-old Edwards is a 2000 graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where he earned a bachelor's degree in arts in ministry. He was a member of the basketball team while at Moody, lettering four years. Following graduation, Edwards assisted his alma mater for one season (2000-01). His coaching duties included on the floor coaching, prepping the scout team and conducting off-season workouts.
