Shawn Moorehead: There is still a lot of time before our first game and a lot of things can happen. I've got to keep working hard every day in practice. But I'm very confident in my ability to play at this level and I hope I get the opportunity.
CN: Are you surprised all of these opportunities have come so early?
Moorehead: Coming out of spring ball, I thought I played real well and the coaches seemed to think the same thing. Under the circumstances, I'm going to do what I can. I'm going to work hard, do what I can, and make the most of it.
CN: Tell us a little bit about your style of play.
Moorehead: I'm a hard worker, and am pretty quick and strong. I give 100 percent all the time.
CN: You began your Cyclone career at SAM linebacker, but moved to rush end prior to spring practice. What has been the biggest difference for you?
Moorehead: I think rush really suits me more. It's down in a three-point, and there isn't as much reading. It's more about just playing football, and I really enjoy it.
CN: What were your original expectations for this season, before finding out that the team would be without Jason Berryman?
Moorehead: I was on a lot of the dime packages and goal-line in the spring, so I figured I would get a shot at the field. This just changed what aspect I was going to get on.
CN: How have you put yourself in position to play relatively early in your college career?
Moorehead: When I first got here I was only like 200 pounds, so I put on a lot of weight and lost a little bit of speed. But after working with our strength and conditioning coach I got my speed back. So I'm feeling real confident.
