Matthew Robertson - Linebacker
Pressed into duty at middle linebacker for a struggling Tim Dobbins, the redshirt sophomore finished with a game-high 12 tackles, including two-for-losses. He also notched one of ISU's two interceptions for touchdowns, the first time that happened since 1996. Robertson's pick six provided the game-clinching points in the 48-41 victory.
Todd Blythe – Wide Receiver
Continued his scoring streak against Northern Illinois, becoming the first Cyclone since 1998 to catch three touchdown passes in one game. Blythe has now caught five touchdown passes this season, and is on pace to break the Iowa State career touchdown-catch record (15) this season as a redshirt freshman. He has a touchdown grab in every Division I-A college game he's played in.
Ellis Hobbs – Cornerback
Sure, the senior cornerback and team captain has had better days in the secondary, but few would argue his punt block that resulted in a touchdown was the play of the game and the play that may eventually have the biggest impact on the season. With the Cyclones trailing, 34-20, Hobbs' block galvanized the entire team and was the catalyst for a monumental comeback.
