Even More Competition

TheInsiders' Allen Wallace recently caught up with one of Iowa State's biggest targets for the Class of 2005, Fort Collins (Colo.) offensive lineman Jon Cooper.

OL/DL Jon Cooper (6-3, 273, 4.95) of Fort Collins (CO) has gotten new offers from Oklahoma and Wyoming, but denies a leader. He favors Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Colorado St and Iowa. All have offered. He also has offers from Cal and Nebraska.

"I'm really looking for good people," said Cooper. "I want to surround myself with people I'm comfortable with. They all have great football programs and they all have my sports marketing major, so it'll be the people that will make all the difference."

Jon has already set up official visits to Oklahoma on October 23rd and Iowa State on October 8th. "It's gonna depend on my visits. If I feel a place is right for me I'll commit. It can happen anytime during the trip.

"I like the prestige at Oklahoma. That really caught my eye. They have good academics and are a great team. I've never been to Norman, so I still have a lot to learn about them."

Jon plans to attend the Colorado State homecoming game versus BYU on October 2nd. "I won't take an official visit to Colorado St because they are so close.

"I'm really comfortable with the coaches at Iowa St. They talk to me like a friend and not just a recruit.

"I like how well Wisconsin has been playing so far this season. They look pretty good. I know their DL Joe Monty. We're really close and he's happy there and it would be cool to go there too. He says it's a good place."

Jon's team is 2-1 and he already has around 30 tackles.
