Thinking About Official Visits

TheInsiders' Allen Wallace recently caught up with one of Iowa State's prime offensive targets for the Class of 2005, Omaha (Neb.) Central tight end Nate Prater.

TE Nate Prater (6-4, 250, 4.8) of Omaha Central (NE) will be at the Kansas/Texas Tech game this weekend (9/25). "Kansas is recruiting me the hardest," said Prater. "They call every week and I get a lot of handwritten letters from them."

Nate favors Oklahoma solid over Michigan, Notre Dame, Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State. "Michigan has verbally offered me. They said it'll be coming in the mail soon. I talked to Coach Terry Malone (offensive coordinator) and he said I had an offer."

He also has offers from Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State. No official visits set. "I'll probably take them in Nov/Dec. I'd like to take it as slow as possible and go through the whole process. I really want to have a great relationship with the coaches and I need to take time to develop that.

"Oklahoma said they are on the verge of offering. They are supposed to come to one of my games coming up--so that proves they are serious.

"Notre Dame will be coming too. I love Coach Ty Willingham. He's one of the best in the business. Notre Dame is on the big screen every week and I just love the tradition and atmosphere."

Nate's team is 2-1 and he has caught 8 balls for 115 yds and one touchdown.
