Oklahoma WR Makes Travel Plans

Thanks to the efforts of Iowa State's coaching staff, a few top players from the talent-laden state of Oklahoma will be heading to Ames for official visits in the next six weeks. Among that group of seniors is a wide receiver from Edmond North.

Big wide receiver Marquis Hamilton, who stands at 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, says he will be taking a trip to ISU on one of two weekends – November 27th or December 4th.

Hamilton says he has offers from three Division I programs overall, and is receiving interest from a few others.

"Iowa State, Tulsa, and Wyoming have already offered," said Hamilton. "Missouri has called every week. I talk to Oklahoma State and SMU on occasion.

"I don't really have any favorites right now. I'm going to Iowa State in late November or early December. I don't have any other ones scheduled; I just know I'm going to Iowa State. I'm also considering visits to Missouri and Texas A&M."

The Cyclones are placing a high priority on Hamilton, as assistant coaches Barney Cotton and Mike Grant have both spent time recruiting him.

"They're really young, are an up-and-coming program, and play in the Big 12 Conference," he said. "I'm anxious to check out the campus and football team up close and personal. They said I can play early, depending on how fast I learn the system."

Hamilton, a preseason first-team all-state selection, has put up some big numbers this season for Edmond North. Going into his final regular season game, he had 35 catches for 606 yards and four touchdowns. Although his future position is likely to be wide receiver, Hamilton has 40 tackles, one interception, and one pass breakup on defense.

Edmond North currently sits at 7-2 overall, but will need a win over Ponca City Friday night to earn third place in District 3-6A and a trip to state playoffs.
