"I'm taking an official visit to Arkansas on November 20th for track," said Gilchrist. "I've talked to their football coaches before, too, but if I elect to go out there for track, I have to wait a year before I play football. I do want to do both in college, though."
His other visit has been set with the Iowa State Cyclones, who are currently very high on his list and may present an option too good to pass up for track.
"I really like Iowa State right now, and their team is really improving. I talk to Coach (Barney) Cotton and Coach (Chris) Ash, who coaches the defensive backs, and we all get along. They told me they like my style of playing, and they are very excited to get me up on a visit," said Gilchrist.
More visits could be set in the future as Gilchrist awaits word on other offers.
"Tape was just sent out to Kansas recently, and they talked about offering," added Gilchrist, who will likely be ranked in the next Midlands 50. "Coloarado State's head coach (Sonny Lubick) called me and told me I had an offer, but he didn't think I was very interested in them. Kansas State still calls every once in a while, and I still have an offer from Wyoming, too."
