Gilchrist Enjoys Time in Ames

Iowa State coaches and players took the weekend to make their recruiting pitch for Tulsa (Okla.) Union cornerback Chris Gilchrist. Gilchrist believes the visit went well, and gave a preview of what's next for him.

"I really enjoyed myself up there and liked the team," said Chris Gilchrist. "I really like the place; it's legit. The people were nice. I just like the way the coaches treated me, and the way the team was real close together. They have a lot of chemistry. They're recruiting me to play cornerback and said I might have the opportunity to contribute early.

"Right now I'm pretty high on them, but I'm probably going to look at a couple other places. I don't really have any favorites right now, but Iowa State's high on the list."

Gilchrist, who said he was hosted by ISU starting quarterback Bret Meyer, laid out his future plans.

"I'm going to visit Colorado State (12/17), Tulsa (1/7), and TCU (1/14)," he said.
