Athletic High Schooler Picking Cyclones

After a productive two weekends of official visits, Iowa State's recruiting class has started to pick up steam. It continues to do so with some more good news from the high school ranks.

Edmond North wide receiver Marquis Hamilton has made his decision, and has decided to wait until the day after Christmas before making it official.

"I'm going to be committing to Iowa State," said Hamilton. "I'm waiting until Christmas so I can talk to my family about it. My parents already know what I want to do, but I'm going to talk to my family when we get together for Christmas. Then it will be like the 26th when I call them and make it official."

Hamilton's verbal would be the Cyclones' 11th commitment for the Class of 2005, and would give this class another nice boost in the skill position category. He compiled 750 receiving yards and four touchdowns as a senior at Edmond North, and added an interception and two fumble recoveries on defense.

Tulsa and New Mexico also offered Hamilton, while Missouri and Oklahoma State showed interest.

"When I was up there I just liked the whole environment and atmosphere a lot," Hamilton said. "It seemed like a really good place to be, so I'm going to commit up there. They have good education programs, and it's in the Big 12, which doesn't hurt."

Hamilton had already hosted Cyclone coaches on an in-home visit this month. The meeting produced a deadline for him to make a commitment to ISU. Hamilton's happy to say that deadline has been met.

"The coaches already came down for an in-home visit, so I'm just going to tell them over the phone," he said. "They told me that they would give me some time, but said they couldn't give me too much. They said no later than January 3rd, but it's not going to be that long anyway. I had told them I needed some time to think about it."
