Big 12 Honors Seven Cyclones

DALLAS -- Iowa State had seven women's basketball players named to the 2005 Big 12 women's basketball academic all-conference team, all of them as first-team selections. Seventy-five Cyclone women's basketball student-athletes have earned all-conference recognition since 1985, including 53 selections during head coach Bill Fennelly's 10-year tenure. This is the third time in the last five years that a school-best seven players were honored.

Seniors Lisa Kriener (St. Ansgar, Iowa), Anne O'Neil (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and Tracy Paustian (Walcott, Iowa) earned first-team honors for the third-straight year. Junior Brittany Wilkins (Arlington, Neb.), a second-team pick last season, is also a three-time honoree. Senior Mary Fox (Lakewood, Ohio) joined sophomores Lyndsey Medders (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Megan Ronhovde (Barrett, Minn.) as first-time selections.

Selection to the academic first team requires a grade point average of 3.2 or higher, while second-team honorees must have at least a 3.0. Student-athletes must participate in 60 percent of the team's scheduled contests. True freshmen and transfers are not eligible to receive recognition in their first year of competition.
