Kindler Named National Coach of the Year

AUBURN, Ala. -- Iowa State women's gymnastics head coach K.J. Kindler was voted national coach of the year by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGCW), while Cyclone assistant coach Lou Ball shared assistant coach of the year honors with Utah's Megan Marsden.

"It's such an honor to receive an award like this from my peers," Kindler said. "I can't really take all of the credit. The gymnasts and the staff worked very hard to get here and I feel like this award recognizes them more than me."

Kindler and Ball led ISU to a 12-3 record this season and the Cyclones' second NCAA Championships appearance. Kindler, a two-time Big 12 Conference coach of the year honoree, owns a 45-23-1 record in her five seasons at Iowa State, including five consecutive trips to NCAA Regional competition. Three Cyclones have earned All-America honors nine times during the coaching duo's tenure, while six ISU gymnasts have accumulated 10 individual conference titles.
