Texas Tailback Taking a Look at ISU

Running back Al'Darius Thompson is one of the many prospects in the Lone Star State who are seeing his recruitment pick up and his stock rise. He's also a Texas player that ISU is taking a long look at. He spoke to CycloneNation.com about his interest in ISU and one conference in particular that he'd like to play in.

North Mesquite High School tailback Al'Darius Thompson is one of the many Texas prospects that ISU is recruiting. Thompson (5-11/175/ 4.39) uses his speed and quickness to elude tacklers and would be considered a "scatback".

"I see myself as a balanced player and I really try to use my speed," Thompson said. "I can run and gain that extra yard and I can catch passes out of the backfield as well."

Thompson has currently picked up a total of five offers.

"I have been offered by Iowa State, Georgia Tech, SMU, TCU, and Mississippi State. I know right now that Georgia Tech will receive an official visit."

Also of note is that Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Kansas, Michigan, Michigan State, Colorado, Kansas State, and Iowa are recruiting Thompson, but have yet to offer.

Thompson would like to play in one conference in particular.

"I'd really like to play in the Big XII," Thompson said. "I'd like for my family to be able to come and see me play, I'd also like to attend a school that has good academics and a good football program."

Right now it is a plus for Cyclone fans since Thompson really likes the Big XII and ISU is currently his only Big XII offer.

Thompson is looking toward a Signing Day decision.

"I want to take all of my official visits before I decide," Thompson said. "I want to give all schools an equal look."

Thompson had this to say about ISU: "They have shown a lot of interest in me, which I really appreciate, and they play in the Big XII, the conference I'd like to play in."

Thompson is planning on camping at two locations this summer.

"I plan on camping at Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State," he said.

As Thompson begins his senior season, ISU will be one of a handful of schools vying for an official visit and his signature come February. Thompson is fully academically qualified with a 3.3 GPA and a 950 SAT score.
