Big 12 Nationally Best in Fan Support

Big 12 women's basketball captured the conference attendance crown for the sixth straight year by totaling 937,611 fans for a 5,180 average in 2004-05, the NCAA announced.

A conference has surpassed the 5,000-average plateau only six times in NCAA history and the Big 12 has five of those in consecutive years from 2001-05. The Big 12 holds the NCAA records for total attendance (1,002,251 in 2002) and average (5,381 in 2004).

All 12 conference schools were ranked in the Top 68 for home attendance average led by Texas Tech in third with 12,601 fans per game. The Lady Raiders have been among the top four teams nationally in home attendance all nine years since the inception of the Big 12 and in the top three the last six seasons. Kansas State and Iowa State were also in the Top 10 rated eighth (7,606) and ninth (7,396) respectively. Baylor (12th), Texas (13th), Oklahoma (17th) and Nebraska (25th) were in the Top 25.

Texas Tech was also ranked third for all-game attendance (home, road, neutral) with a cumulative total of 262,236 fans at 32 games. Baylor was seventh with 221,311 spectators at 36 contests while Texas was 10th with 200,536 at 31 outings.

Baylor and Nebraska were among the Top 10 schools for largest increase in average home attendance from 2003-04 to 2004-05. Baylor ranked second after improving its average by 2,169 per game while Nebraska was 10th with a 948 average increase.
