Hoey hasn't made up his mind yet

With the summer winding down Brandon Hoey is making the most of his free days checking out numerous colleges around the Midwest.

Defensive linemen Brandon Hoey from Arden Hills (Minn.) Mounds View is making the rounds around the Midwest. After a stop in Ames last weekend, Hoey will head to Minnesota this afternoon, Arkansas on Thursday and Wisconsin on Saturday.

The 6-foot-5, 265 pounder is one of the top prospects in the Midwest for the class of 2006; he said he enjoyed his weekend in Ames.

"It went real well," Hoey said. "I took a quick look over at the facilities and watched an entire practice."

It was Hoey's third time visiting Ames; he attended Iowa State's padded camp in June.

Hoey said he doesn't have any favorites right now, but does have offers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Colorado, Wyoming, Central Florida, Indiana, Arkansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

"I'd like to [make my decision] before football season starts but I'm not sure yet," he said.

Last season Hoey accumulated 45 tackles, 12 sacks and two forced fumbles.

"Just doing the best I possibly can is my goal for this season," he said.

After visiting with the Cyclones, Hoey said they would have him play either defensive tackle or defensive end.
