The Cyclones have too many weapons
offensively and defensively for the Redbirds to contend with. Look for
This game is all about Tyler Palko. The Panther QB has proven that he has the ability to lead this team to victory and should be able to exploit a weak Irish secondary en route to another one this Saturday. I know Pitt was weak on "D" last year, but defense is Wannstedt's forte. This won't be the #1 defense in the Nation or anything, but they will be able to hold Notre Dame in check. Pitt by at least a TD.
OSU is too good to lose a game like this. However, they do have a habit of allowing MAC, WAC and M-West teams to hang around in early season ballgames. They should win this game comfortably, but without starting QB Troy Smith this game could remain close throughout.
If CSU Sr QB Justin Holland gets
time to throw it could mean a long day for the Buffs. CSU returns 3 receivers
that averaged over 16 yds a catch last year. One in particular was Biletnikoff
Award semifinalist David Anderson. The Sr had 57 catches for 940 yds and a 16.5
yards per catch average. This game should be close considering
This game comes down to Charlie Whitehurst's productivity and the Tigers ability to avoid turnovers. After a fabulous sophomore season Whitehurst struggled last year. If he can regain his form the Tigers have the other pieces in place to win this game. The Tigers have a good running game and a solid receiving corps. On ‘D', Clemson returns one of the best secondaries in the ACC and their front 7 is athletic enough to contain McNeal. If Clemson avoids TO's and forces some of their own, they just might pick off a top 25 team and jump start a very exciting season. I predict Whitehurst silences his critics and leads his team to victory.

This one should be over by
halftime, although I suspect it will be a very vanilla scheme for the Cyclones
offensively. I also suspect that we'll see a lot of Greg Coleman in a backup
Two former NFL
coaches/coordinators with Super Bowl rings make their debuts at their alma
maters as head coaches and ESPN Gameday will be there at Heinz Field. This
should be a high-scoring game, but expect Tyler Palko to put up better numbers
than Brady Quinn.
Upset alert. I saw the Redhawks up
close at the Independence Bowl and their better than advertised on defense, and
should be explosive on offense with Ryne Robinson and the return of Martin Nance.
There was a time when the Rams had
Gary Barnett's number, but Sonny Lubick's program has slipped the past several
years. The Buffaloes will just be too physical here.
I had been thinking all summer
that this would be an upset and the Tigers would win at

I don't know how close
It will be close, but
Too much Reggie McNeal for Clemson, the Aggies win by two TD's.

A good test for ISU. Precious little time to work out the bugs before Sept. 10. It will be interesting to see how the O-line and secondary gel against an opponent that should cause too many problems.
Since the Irish are in my bottom five favorite teams, I'll go with Pitt. ND still has to prove they are capable of beating anyone of note.
No brainer. Buckeyes have too much
of everything for
Gotta pull for the state school.
Go Big 12! A&M could have a great season if they start out on the right foot. A roadie against a team with a lot to prove will show what they are made of.
Notre Dame over
Notre Dame and
Reggie McNeal and Charlie Whitehurst are two of the nation's best quarterbacks. Texas A&M has won all three meetings between the teams. Make it four, Texas A&M pulls this one out 27-21.
