Post-game: LaMarcus Hicks

ISU cornerback comes up huge in 23-3 victory over Iowa. Hicks returned an interception 28 yards for a touchdown.

This was a statement game for you guys. You're 2-0, won against your rival. Are you ready to show America what the Cyclones are all about?

Hicks: Yeah, that's what we want to do as a team. [We want to] show the nation we're not just a 7-5 bowl team like last year. We want to show them we can really play football here in Ames.

Talk about the interception you ran back for the touchdown.

Hicks: First I had some great underneath help from the linebackers and I saw them tip the ball. Once I saw it tipped, I caught it and I saw the sidelines so I took it.

Who tipped the ball?

Hicks: Adam Carper

That was the third touchdown of your career here, did you ever think it'd happen?

Hicks: No, I didn't think it'd happen like that but it's been happening and it's been real good.

What does this win do for the team?

Hicks: It gives us a chance. It gives us a lot of confidence and a lot of confidence in the coaches, the players and the fans and everybody that knows we have a chance to do a lot of good things this season.

Do you have to guard against being over-confident?

Hicks: Yeah, we have to know that we can't become too confident. We have to stay humble and play our game like we know how.

Talk about DeAndre Jackson coming back this week:

Hicks: It was good, DeAndre is a good player. He's made good plays before. Last week was just a down week for him and we knew he'd come back and make the big plays when he was needed.
