CN Business of the Day

Clint Peters grew up in a breeding ground for future Hawkeye players and even has a prominent former Iowa player as a relative, but Peters hasn't wavered from the Cardinal and Gold. A year ago he started Midwestern Mortgage Group, Inc. and is willing to personally donate to ISU athletics with the support of CN subscribers!

How long has Midwestern Mortgage Group, Inc. been in business?

I have been in the mortgage industry since 1997.  I started Midwestern Mortgage Group, Inc. last year after a previous stint as an owner in another mortgage company the previous 7 years.

Who is the owner and what is your role in the business?

I am the sole owner of the company.  I manage both the offices and originate loans on a daily basis.

Where is the business located?

My business is located at 6200 Aurora Ave #401E, Urbandale, IA 50322 and I have a satellite office at 809 W. 1st, Cedar Falls, IA 50613.  My office line is 515-334-0934 ext 200.  You can also go to

How many employees do you have?

I currently have four employees in the Urbandale office and one in Cedar Falls.

What services do you offer?

My company does mortgages for all credit situations and is able to offer some of the lowest rates in the area.  We do both purchase loans and refinance loans of any kind.  I can offer $0 down purchase loans and up to 125% of a property's value on a refinance loan.  The pre-approvals I do are always free and I do not charge any out of pocket expense during the loan process.  I pride my company on the service we offer to all our customers and we want everyone we do business with to be a client for life.

What are some of things your business is most proud of?

I think my company is most proud of the fact that our customers always walk away feeling like they were treated fairly and honestly during the loan process.  We get a lot of business referred to us by past clients which is the best indicator that our service is top of the line.

How long have you been associated with Iowa State athletics?

I remember becoming an Iowa State fan way back.  I believe the first ISU game I attended in person was unfortunately the loss we had to Drake.  I used to stay up when I was a kid watching the late replay show each Saturday night on TV of the game that day.  I also remember falling in love with the atmosphere at Hilton the first game I ever attended.  Even watching the games I didn't go to on TV, I remember turning on the game and seeing the crowd going crazy from pre-game until the end when the great Oklahoma and Kansas teams came to town and when the crowd was so loud the basket shook against Ok. State.

How many of your employees/children are Iowa State students/alums?

I have two employees right now who attended Iowa State.

What are some of your favorite Iowa State moments?

- Lafester putting up over 50 points in the win over Iowa

- The ISU/Texas game in Ames a few years back where Fizer had the incredible dunk at the end of the game.

- The feeling I had at the Iowa game the year we beat them in Iowa City for the first time in years.

- Watching us beat Kansas in Hilton when Hoiberg was playing.

Other items of interest.

I have always had a hard time with some of my family because I am originally from Aplington which seems to produce a lot of stars for the Hawks and my first cousin is Jared DeVries, yet I am a Cyclone fan.  I actually attended the post game tailgate at his house in Iowa City the year we beat them for the first time.  I guess the Cyclone blood is thicker than any other.

I am willing to personally donate $250 toward any function at Iowa State in the name of any client who closes a loan with my company and mentions they are a Cyclone fan or saw this article.  I will donate the money in the borrower's name to any area they wish me to donate it to in an effort to help the University.

CN encourages all Cyclone fans to do business with Cyclone Businesses of the Day. You can contact Clint Peters at 6200 Aurora Ave #401E, Urbandale, IA 50322. You can reach him by phone at 515-334-0934 ext. 200 or visit him on the world wide web at
