ISU Cross Country to Compete in Minneapolis

The young men and women's cross country teams will compete at the 20th annual Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn., on Saturday. The event is hosted by the University of Minnesota. The men are scheduled to race at 11:20 a.m., and the women are to start at 12:10 p.m.

Kiel Uhl and David Rotich led the men with second and third place finishes, respectively, at their last meet, the ISU Open.  The two are expected to make a big impact for the Cyclones this weekend as well in the 8K run.

"This is one of the biggest meets in the country," said Cyclone men's head cross country coach Corey Ihmels about the Roy Griak Invitational.  "This meet will show us where we're at as a team, and we're really looking forward to it.  We should get a good barometer of where we stand."

Lisa Koll finished an impressive first place on the women's side at the ISU Open and is looking to have another good run in Minneapolis.  The women will run a 6K.

"We're looking forward to the meet," said ISU women's head cross country coach Dick Lee.  "We're going in short handed; a couple runners aren't competing that we thought would be competing at the beginning of the season.  This will be the first 6K for all our freshmen, so this meet should be a good experience.  Lisa Koll and Krista Metz should do a good job for us.  As a team, we just want to improve from two weeks ago."

Results from the meet along with a release containing quotes from Cyclone athletes and coaches will be posted on shortly after the completion meet.
