Bill Callahan Big 12 Teleconference

Read some of Nebraska head coach Bill Callahan's quotes from Monday's Big 12 teleconference. Saturday will be a battle of unbeatens as both Iowa State and Nebraska are 3-0.

"We just came off our bye like a lot of people have. We have two 3-0 teams butting heads. Iowa State is a very good football team and showed character in coming back in the fourth quarter to win at Army. We have great fans at Nebraska, and the home field advantage is comfortable. The NCAA record for sellouts says a lot about our fans.

We have to win the battle of field position and special teams to win in the Big 12, and we have worked very hard on those phases as well as working hard to get better on offense. We tried to get best-on-best last week, and we need to see how we can do on the field against competition. We haven't played our best football yet, and we have a lot of good football left in our team. You have seen a lot of teams sputter early and then go 'kaboom' at the end of the year. Some teams start hot and then peter out at the end. It will only help if we take stock in our team and come out with a win.

We have documented every tendency and need to keep making steps. We took inventory of where we were during the bye week. It allows us to get healthier, and we get an extra week to prepare for an opponent. Bottom line: it's just football. We have to adjust from week to week, and we're grinding."
