Baylor Post-game Player Quotes

Hear from Berryman, Blythe and more.

Jason Berryman

On how disappointed the team is….

Oh, I can't even explain in words how disappointed we are with this loss. They came out and played a better game. They played a good game, they outplayed us and they were the better team today

On one word to describe the team's performance…

I don't know if I could do it in one word if I could say that we didn't play cyclone football like we know how to do.

On if the Cyclones feel their backs are against the wall…

With every loss there's a lot of things you can do with it. Football's a game of execution and today we didn't come out and execute like we could.

On the teams mindset….

Just regroup; we've got to be able to regroup. Any good team is able to take a loss and build from it.

Greg Coleman

On that fumble on the 1 yard line…

I thought I was down but I wasn't, so it was a fumble.

On whether or not the ball got knocked out from behind…

I tried to reach out and cross the line.

On how that play changed the momentum…

It was a momentum changer but that's why you play a football game, a lot of things happen during a football game.

On how tough it will be to bounce back…

It's definitely going to be tough but we've got to get it done.

On if they'll do anything differently…

We really don't do anything different. We just have to keep working hard. We just got to make more plays offensive, defensively.

On if he asked an official about the fumble…

I didn't ask him. I'm sure the coaches did, that's not my job.

On the teams mentality…

It's a killer loss, we just came off a heartbreaker at Nebraska and now we come back and lose to Baylor at home it's heart breaker.

On if the pressures turned up now…

Definitely we've got to start putting some wins together, two losses that's too many we didn't except that right now in this position of the season so we've got to pick it up.

Jason Harris

On if he was surprised he was going to play…

I was surprised. Early in the week he told me. I kind of got the mindset I got to go out and play and just be myself and make things happen.

On if he wanted to play his freshman year…

I'm playing for the team here and if the team needs me I'm going to go out and play

On how it feels to get hit by a Big 12 tackler…

Going against the guys in practice I kind of got the feel of it. Like I said the game is a lot faster, but I think I played pretty well I could have done better like I said.

On if he was sensing this game for a couple weeks with all the injuries…

When they went down with injuries like that I didn't know if I was going to get in. Like I said earlier he told me this week and I just had to be ready to go.

Walter Nickel

On the teams mentality…

Very disappointed, we had plenty of chances to win the game and we should have won the game. To turn the ball over twice in the red zone that's unacceptable.

Obviously we're down, but we have a game next week, we've got to get back up and practice hard and be prepared for Missouri.

On the turnovers….

Obviously you can't explain that. They shouldn't happen you shouldn't turn the ball over in the red zone its unacceptable.

On last years Baylor game…

I wasn't here last year so I don't know about that. We definitely want to win next week.

On bouncing back...

Definitely the last two weeks we should have come away with the ‘w' but you can't just go in there and play hard and expect to win the Big 12. You have to execute perfectly.

Jon Davis

On the teams turnovers…

It's frustrating for any team to move the ball up the field like that and we get close and just lose it and give the ball right back to them. We've just got to focus and make sure we hold on the ball.

On how the team is feeling…

It's a sour taste in all our mouths right now but we know we can bounce back from this. Both games have come down to making plays; we just got to keep making plays when we need too.

Todd Blythe

On the teams mentality…

It's real hard to swallow, we came into today thinking we had prepared. We had a great week of practicing and we thought we had a lot of the mistakes we made today cleaned up but obviously we didn't get some things done today. They made more play than we did.

On the turnovers in the redzone…

That kills us; we've got to do a better job of holding on the ball. We've got to learn to capitalize and learn to finish drives, that's our biggest weakness I think. Luckily it's correctable; we're capable of getting this stuff done. We would have liked to have this stuff worked out by now but we have another week of practice to work on it and I think we will.

On Colman's fumble….

From my vantage point I thought he got in and I was celebrating. I didn't realize that he had even fumbled and I watched the end zone and it looked like he got awful close to getting in there before he lost the ball, but that's not the way they called it and that's not the way it went. But we got to be able to overcome things like that. We're a good offense at time but sometimes we stall out and we struggling and that's something we've got to clean up and that's going to take focus like we've said all season.
