Pre-Missouri LaMarcus Hicks Q&A

ISU cornerback LaMarcus Hicks looks ahead to the Missouri game.

On if Brad Smith is the best quarterback they've seen…

So far he's probably the best quarterback we've faced all year long with his running ability as well as his passing ability.

On how it changes Hicks' responsibility…

It changes the whole defenses responsibility. We have to contain him and make sure he doesn't beat us with his legs. We have to make sure he stays in the pocket. He can be very dangerous once he gets past the line of scrimmage and starts a run.

On if that's easier said than done…

Yeah I think it is easier said than done.

On if Smith is more dangerous as a thrower or a runner…

I think he's more dangerous as a runner.

On if the ISU defense is aggressive enough for his liking…

No, we're not playing aggressive enough that we have to to win the Big 12. [With] the yards that we're giving up this year especially against the pass, I don't think we're playing as aggressive as we can be. We have a lot more potential to play better than are playing right now, but I think we're going to step our game up and play a lot better.

On the defense only forcing two turnovers in the last two games…

I think it probably has been our approach like in the non-conference earlier in the year; we came out playing very aggressive going after the ball. I think we kind of got away from the little things and we have to go back to the little things we were doing at first.
