Pre-Missouri Austin Flynn Q&A

ISU wide out Austin Flynn looks ahead to the Missouri game on Saturday.

On how confident this ISU offense is…

I think just the fact that we can look back to last year and say we still got a lot of big time player makers and that's a confidence. We haven't been making a lot of big plays in the receiving corps including myself and we've got to get back to that. I'm confident in our big time guys and they'll come around and be big time players for us.

On what has to happen to get back on track…

I think it's just the little things. I think it's just certain little things that we're doing and that's costing us. In my case I turn my head to early and I don't run the exact route I should have and it's cost me. It's just little things that are just hurting us. We've got to get back to practice and fix those little things and do the little things right.

On Todd Blythe returning punts…

I'm excited, I think he's excited; I just talked to him a little bit. He's got to work at it though. I would not want to be back there, I tell you that. I can catch kickoff returns but I don't think I could catch a punt for my life. It's a tough job and you've got to have a lot of courage and be pretty brave back there.

Baum is a tremendous loss for us especially in the special teams; he's a hard nosed player, but I've got a lot of confidence in Todd.

On being three plays away from being 5-0…

You can say that and you could say there's other plays that could have helped us. It is frustrating but at the same time there's a lot of things that could have happened.

On last year making those plays…

Exactly, that's the things that's going to make us a great team or a 3-8 team.  It's just who's going to step up and make the big play for us and that question will be answered for us pretty soon.
