I'm most proud of the fact that we've been here for 10 years in an extremely competitive market.

How long have you been associated with
Iowa State athletics?

I have been associated with ISU for as long as I can remember, about 35 years. I'm from Ames originally, and I graduated from ISU in 1992, so I've been extremely familiar with ISU and ISU athletics.

How many of your employees/children are
Iowa State students/alumni?

All of my employees but one are ISU students at the Ames location, the labor pool for me is excellent with ISU.

Do you and your employees get together and tailgate
I tailgate with a bunch of friends in the row of tents between the Jake and Hilton, we're the tent #2 crew.

What are some of your favorite
Iowa State moments?

There are so many moments that were great. I think I've only missed two or three home football games since 1976, and four or five home basketball games since 1978.

When I was a kid, I remember going to the Peach Bowl, that was a great atmosphere; also the Nebraska game in '92, going over to EIU in the late 70's early 80's was great when we beat them there. The first night game was great, I think it was against OU they were ranked and it was on ESPN, even though we lost it was a great time.

In basketball, when coach Orr came that was huge, and I still remember his first home game here when he blew up at the officials, and let them know ISU would not be walked on anymore. I think most everyone in the building knew right there things were going to change for ISU basketball. The Okie State game when the floor was shaking was a big game. And the game I think was in 1983 against Mizzou they were ranked in the top 10, and Barry Stevens made the last second shot to win the game was the beginning of the turnaround, we were the big highlight on ESPN. The publicity was a first for ISU basketball. The Big 8 Tournament in K.C was huge, when we won the tournament and also the conference championship seasons were just great times to be a Cyclone. And of course any win in any sport over EIU has been awesome.

What are your thoughts on the current football season and the upcoming basketball seasons?

As far as the football season this year I hope we can get a few breaks and win some away games, there is still a lot of football to play. Basketball should be real exciting, as long as Wayne keeps bringing in the players we could be in another "transition" to a new level of basketball at Hilton.
