Stinson Named Preseason All-Big 12

Iowa State junior guard Curtis Stinson, a preseason All-American, was named to the 2005-06 coaches preseason all-Big 12 men's basketball team, announced today by the Big 12 Office.

A native of Bronx, N.Y., Stinson averaged 17.2 ppg and ranked second in the league in steals (2.3 apg) and fifth in the league in assists (4.5 apg) as a sophomore in 2004-05. A preseason Wooden Award nominee, Stinson and backcourt teammate Will Blalock form one of the best backcourts in all of college basketball. Sporting News recently ranked the pair as the third-best backcourt in the nation.

Stinson is joined on the team by P.J. Tucker (Texas), Daniel Gibson (Texas), JamesOn Curry (Oklahoma State) and Taj Gray (Oklahoma). Gray was also tabbed as the preseason player of the year.
