Meet Cyclone Commit Patrick Neal

Patrick Neal's senior season is off to a bang. Neal's recent transfer to West Des Moines Valley has paid off as the Tigers are 7-0 and are making a run at another state title.

As many subscribers already know, Patrick Neal comes from a long line of Neal's who have participated in Cyclone athletics. His father, Brian Neal was a four year starter for the Iowa State Football team from 1977-81 and his brother John is a currently a senior for the Iowa State basketball team. John is especially proud of what his little brother has been able to accomplish.

"I'm really happy and proud of him," John said. "He's always wanted to play at Iowa State. He's worked extremely hard to get where he's at. It's kind of fun knowing that I'll have a little brother here when I leave."

The following is a question and answer session that Cyclone Nation recently held with Patrick Neal.

CN: What is your favorite thing about Iowa State?

Neal: The family tradition so far. It's a great university. I really like Ames.

CN: What is it like watching your brother play basketball?

Neal: I think it's really awesome. The fans are great up there. I love watching my brother play. We're pretty close. All of my brothers are pretty close.

CN: What are you looking forward to most about putting on a Cyclone uniform?

Neal: Getting up there and being a part of a D-1 team.

CN: What will go through your head the first time you run out onto Jack Trice Stadium?

Neal: How much bigger it is than a high school stadium.

CN: What do your parents think?

Neal: I think they are really excited. My dad played there and I think he's happy that I'm playing there too.

Neal is currently projected as a defensive end when he gets to college. His current teammate, Zac Sandvig, is also committed to Iowa State.
