CNs Thursday Business Professional of the Day

Pam Corbin, a custom window fashion professional, with "V2K, The Virtual Window Fashion Store" is our Thursday Business Professional of the Day!

First of all could you tell us a little bit about your business?
I am a custom window fashion professional. In April of 2004 I purchased a window treatment franchise, "V2K, The Virtual Window Fashion Store", the first franchise of its kind in Iowa. There are approximately 150 in the United States. I custom design not only fabric window treatments but also sell blinds, shades, shutters, woven woods and innovative verticals. I do In-home complimentary consultations where I measure the windows and provide the customer with different options. I use computer software to display window treatments and can price them accordingly. Installation is always included.

I carry name brand products from Hunter Douglas, Graber and Lafayette and I also can offer an exclusive line of competitively priced products made specifically for V2K by the major names. We also have our own exclusive workroom for fabric treatments

Where is the business located and what is the best way for customers to contact you?

My husband and I own the franchise and I work from home in Urbandale.  Because I do not have a retail space, I can keep my prices very competitive.

What are some of the things in your career you are most proud of?

I am proud of the level of service I am able to provide my customers. My client satisfaction is top priority.

I can offer 25% off retail on horizontals and verticals with complete installation and excellent warranties. For a limited time, I am also offering 12 months, same as cash with no down payment and no interest.

How long have you been associated with Iowa State athletics?

I met my current husband, Phil, a graduate and great supporter of ISU Athletics in 1995 and on one of our very first dates (a dinner at my home) he asked if he could turn on the game.  I've been hooked ever since. We scheduled our wedding around an open football weekend and were married at the ISU Memorial Union with the Campanile playing the Wedding Bells. My husband wanted to have the ISU fight song playing but that's where I drew the line.

My son, Justin is an ISU grad in Electrical Engineering. He works in the field and confirms that his EE degree from ISU has better prepared him than some of his colleagues with Masters degrees from other colleges.

Do you get together with friends or co-workers to tailgate before the games?

We tailgate before every football game with our group of Cyclone fans and we invite family, friends and business associates to our festivities. We enjoy meeting the team bus and players before each game and watching the band arrive.

What are some of your favorite Iowa State moments?

One of my favorite moments was watching the Cyclones beat Kansas in the Big Eight Tourney in KC.  What a game!! Of course, we can't leave out that last awesome win over those Hawkeyes!!!!

Is there anything else you would like to mention?

I think it is great for Cyclone fans to support one another with our businesses and in turn be able to support our teams. Go Cyclones!!!!

CN encourages all Cyclone fans to do business with Cyclone Businesses of the Day. You can contact Pam Corbin at 515.331.4000 or via email at
