ISU Set For Tilt With No. 10 Missouri

The Iowa State volleyball team looks to extend its two match Big 12 winning streak when it hosts No. 10 Missouri on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.

The Cyclones enter the weekend with a record of 13-8 overall and 6-4 in Big 12 play while Missouri stands at 14-2 overall and 8-2 in conference play. The two teams opened Big 12 play in Columbia, Mo. with the Tigers taking a 3-0 win over the visiting Cyclones.

In that match, Missouri out-hit Iowa State, .327 to .131, and controlled the match with strong serving as the Tiger's had 11 service aces in the win. Jessica Klein was the lone Cyclone to reach double-figure kills with 11. Shen Danru and Nicole Wilson finished with 12 kills each for the Tigers.

Saturday's match will boast two of the top defensive teams in the Big 12 this season, with ISU ranking second in both digs and blocks and Missouri leading the conference in digs and ranking fifth in blocks.

Iowa State is led by Erin Boeve, who entered the week ranked sixth in the nation in blocks per game at 1.72. The sophomore from Steen, Minn. has reached double-figure kills in the last eight matches and is averaging 2.91 kills in Big 12 play.

Katie Churm leads the Big 12 in digs per game with an average of 4.51. Churm ranks just ahead of Missouri's Tatum Ailes, who is averaging 4.13 per game.

Missouri is led by AVCA All-American setter Lindsey Hunter and Nicole Wilson. Hunter is leading the Big 12 in assists at a clip of 14.48 per game. Wilson ranks second in the conference with a hitting percentage of .442 and sixth in blocks, averaging 1.39 per game.

Missouri leads the all-time series, 31-26.
