Six Cyclones Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors

Six Iowa State cross country student-athletes were named to the 2005 Cross Country Academic All-Big 12 teams announced by the league office Tuesday.

Jon Reis, David Rotich and Chris Legore earned first team accolades for the Cyclone men.  Reis is a junior from Fort Atkinson, Iowa, majoring in engineering.  Rotich, also a junior, is an accounting major from Eldoret, Kenya.  Legore is a sophomore from Mt. Vernon, Iowa, majoring in mechanical engineering.

Juniors Meredith McKean and Krysta Metz were named to the first team and sophomore Mackenzie Madison earned second-team honors for the women's team. 

McKean is a biochemistry major from Armstrong, Iowa, and Metz is a health and human performance major from Atlantic, Iowa.  Madison is from Ankeny, Iowa, and also majoring in health and human performance.

First-team members must achieve a 3.20 or better grade point average and second-team members are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19.  These averages must be either cumulative or maintained over two previous semesters.

The Big 12 Conference named 110 student-athletes to the 2005 Academic All-Big 12 teams.
