Derrick Odom Update

Derrick Odom was offered by Alabama, Tennessee, and Auburn this past week, but he still claims that Iowa State is right up in the thick of things in his recruiting process. Odom is the 25th ranked linebacker by

"I'm still wide open. The offers don't mean anything," said Derrick Odom.

Odom has recently expressed his concern with the long distance from his hometown of Jackson, Mississippi to Iowa State. It's hard for Derrick to get up to Ames after a Friday night game.

"I'm still working on trying to come up to Iowa," he said. "I'm not exactly sure whether I will be able to or not but it's a possibility."

Odom said that Iowa State has continued keeping in touch with him weekly and that they are in the hunt as much as anybody else. Odom remains very focused on his academics right now and isn't too concerned on recruiting at this time. Last weekend he had 10 tackles and a touchdown catch at tight end.

Odom had over 100 tackles, 12 sacks, and 12 forced fumbles last year. He plans on majoring in engineering once he gets to college.
