The story behind the story of Iowa State's third straight victory, a 45-17 whipping of Kansas State.

*Todd Blythe has equaled the school record for touchdown receptions in his Iowa State career with 15 touchdowns. He moves into a first place tie with Ed Williams (1994-97) and Keith Krepfle (1971-73). Todd Blythe's 59 yards receiving today gives him 1,534 yards receiving in his career moving him past Dennis Ross (1,529 receiving yards, 1985-88) into fifth place. Otto Stowe (1,751 yards receiving, 1968-70) is in fourth place.

*Bret Meyer's three touchdown passes today give him 23 in ISU career. That ties him for fifth place, in career touchdown passes, with David Archer (23 TD's, 1982-83).

*Bret Meyer had 16 pass completions in 23 attempts. Meyer has 318 career pass completions, moving him past Sage Rosenfels (306 completions, 1997-2000) into fifth place. David Archer (359 completions, 1982-83) is in fourth place. Meyer's 4,040 career passing yards makes him the sixth ISU QB to top the 4,000-yard passing barrier.

*Stevie Hicks' 149 yards rushing today are a season high and is the ninth time in Iowa State career he has topped 100 rushing yards in a game, the third this season. His nine 100-yard games rank him 10th on the all-time ISU career list.

*Stevie Hicks' 37 yard touchdown run was his (and ISU's longest) longest rushing play this season.

*Ryan Kock's two rushing touchdowns today give him 12 this season. This is the fourth time this season he has had multiple touchdown games.

*The first quarter interception by DeAndre Jackson marks the third straight game that he has intercepted a pass.

*Austin Flynn led the team with seven receptions, this is the fifth time this season that Flynn has led the team in receptions for a game.

*With today's win, Iowa State is bowl eligible for the fifth time in six seasons.

*This is the first time that Iowa State has won back-to-back games against Kansas State since the Cyclones beat the Wildcats five straight years from 1985-89.

*Today's win is the first time Iowa State has beaten Kansas State at home since a Nov. 6, 1993, 27-23 victory over the 18th-ranked Wildcats.

*Today is the first time in school history that the Cyclones have scored 37 points or more points in three consecutive conference games (37-10 vs Oklahoma State, 42-14 at Texas A&M).

*Today's ISU point total (45) is the most points scored against Kansas State since a 48-19 victory over the Wildcats in 1986.

*Today's 45 points mark the most points scored in a Big 12 Conference game since the Cyclones topped Kansas 45-3 on August 31, 2002.

*Iowa State has outscored opponents 69-34 in the third quarter this season.

*Iowa State allowed Kansas State just 12 yards rushing on 29 Wildcat carries. That marks the Cyclones' second-best effort in rushing defense ever in conference play. The school-best is minus 16 yards allowed at Colorado in 1984. The mark is eighth on the all-time overall chart.

*Iowa State has allowed just 895 yards rushing this season on 292 carries. That is an average of 3.07 yards per carry, under the previous school record of 3.15 by the Dirty Thirty defense of 1959.

*The Cyclones are allowing just 99.4 yards rushing per game, easily the best mark in school history of 139.2 set by last year's Cyclones.

*Iowa State forced three Kansas State turnovers into 17 points. Kansas State scored no points on Iowa State's lone turnover.

*The Cyclones stand at +11 in turnover margin this season and +55 points off of turnovers. The points margin is the highest since McCarney came to Iowa State.
