Iowa State volleyball player Nicole Lorenzen has been named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII second team.

Lorenzen, a redshirt junior from Fremont, Iowa, has been honored as a first-team academic all-Big 12 honoree twice in her career and this marks her first ESPN the Magazine award. Nominees must hold a 3.20 GPA and compete in at least 60 percent of the team's events.

Lorenzen, a chemical engineering major, boasts a 3.69 GPA and has started in all but one of the Cyclones' 26 matches this season. She has 230 kills and ranks third on the team with an average of 2.58 kills. Lorenzen also ranks third on the team in digs with 223 and recently went over 600 kills and 500 digs in her career in a match against Kansas State.

Lorenzen is the fourth player in ISU history to be named to a district team. Kirstin Hugdahl (1993-95), Kary Law (1992, 1994) and Dana Koziol (2003) each earned the honor during their careers.
