Mackenzie Stirmlinger is a 5'10
guard out of Chesterfield, MO, who has
recently signed to play basketball at Iowa State. Last year in her junior season,
Stirmlinger averaged 15.5 points per game, 5.2 assists per game, 3.9 rebounds
per game, and 2 steals a game. Stirmlinger originally committed to Iowa State in March of her junior year, and she
hasn't looked back since.
"I really like the people. I just
felt really welcome and warm there," said Stirmlinger.
Stirmlinger has led St. Joseph's Academy in
scoring every season since she was a freshman. She was a state champion during
her sophomore year, and has three different all-conference and all-state awards
as well. Mackenzie is also an 89% free throw shooter.
Stirmlinger was also receiving
attention from Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and
Stirmlinger, like all of the other commits, visited Iowa State on October
"I had a lot of fun. It was really
nice because I got to spend a lot of time with the girls and getting to know
them. I really liked how I got to go with Anna Florzak and some other recruits
too so I got to know them a lot better," said Stirmlinger.
Though she's already had an
established high school career, Stirmlinger doesn't believe to be done as her
high school team is returning four starters.
"We're going to be really strong
this year," said Stirmlinger.
Stirmlinger also said that she
plans on attending the Cyclone Classic this year in Ames.
