Iowa State's Erin Boeve was named All-Big 12 honorable mention on Monday. The honor, which is voted upon by the league's coaches, makes Boeve the first Cyclone to earn the honor since 1995, the final year of the Big Eight.

Boeve, a sophomore middle blocker from Steen, Minn., was a central figure on an Iowa State team that had its best record in 10 years, going 16-15 overall and 9-11 in Big 12 play. The nine Big 12 wins was a school record.

"I am really happy that Erin was acknowledged as one of the best middle blockers in the Big 12," said ISU head coach Christy Johnson. "She's got a rare combination of exceptional athletic ability and a tremendous work ethic.  She will only continue to get better over the next two years – the best is yet to come."

Boeve shattered the single-season school record with 155 block assists and added 19 solo blocks in finishing second in the conference with 1.61 blocks per game. The previous school record for block assists in a season was 117 by Diane Doles in 1983.

Boeve finished second on the team with 344 kills, including a career-high 28 kills against Kansas State.

Boeve also became the first Cyclone to be named Big 12 player of the week since Colleen Henican in 1997. Boeve earned that honor after hitting .349 to go along with 21 kills, 14 block assists and a solo block in wins over Colorado and North Dakota State.

Boeve had another impressive outing at Texas Tech as the sophomore recorded 13 kills with no errors in 18 attempts for a .722 hitting percentage. It was the fourth best hitting percentage in school history.

She was named all-tournament team at the Cyclone Classic and the Results Advertising Missouri State Classic.
