Iowa State in the Hunt for Athlete in Florida

Brandon Thompkins has put Iowa State at the top of his list. He likes what the Cyclones have to offer by playing in the Big 12 and being on television.

Iowa State is among the leaders in the race for Brandon Thompkins, a 5'10, 170 pound defensive back out of West Palm Beach, Florida.

Right now, Iowa State is right in the thick of things when it comes to adding the speedy defensive back. Thompkins said that Iowa State has offered him by voice, but he is yet to see anything on paper.

Thompkins has also been offered by Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Akron, Louisiana Lafayette, Bowling Green and Florida International.

The biggest thing that Iowa State has going for them when it comes to landing the recruit is the big time college football atmosphere that comes with playing in the Big 12.

"That might be a better chance for me to get into the NFL," said Thompkins.

As of now, Thompkins still hasn't set up an official visit to Iowa State, even though they're one of his top choices. Thompkins went on to say that he plans on visiting Iowa State before making a decision.

"I still have a lot to do. I don't want to commit to early. I want to check everything out before I commit. I have a lot of stuff to do," said Thompkins.

Thompkins is just coming off of his senior season, in which he said that he didn't play as well as the year before.

"I had a better season last year. I came out with some great catches and more yards last year. I was able to show my talent on both sides of the ball," said Thompkins.

Thompkins high school team, Palm Beach Lakes High School went all the way to the third round of the playoffs before they were eliminated.

Though Thompkins grew up in the paradise of America, the Midwest doesn't sound too bad to the Florida native.

"That'd be cool to play in the Midwest," said Thompkins.
