Stephenson, Dobbins Named All-Big 12 1st Team

Iowa State center Scott Stephenson and linebacker Tim Dobbins were named to the Associated Press all-Big 12 first-team Thursday.

Iowa State center Scott Stephenson and linebacker Tim Dobbins were named to the Associated Press all-Big 12 first-team Thursday.  Wide receiver Todd Blythe, defensive tackle Brent Curvey, nose guard Nick Leaders and cornerback LaMarcus Hicks made the second team. ISU offensive lineman Aaron Brant, I-back Stevie Hicks, defensive end Jason Berryman and cornerback DeAndre Jackson received honorable mention from the conference's media.

Stephenson, a junior from St. Paul, Minn., who switched from the defensive line to the offensive line after transferring from Minnesota, has started every game this season. Dobbins, from Nashville, Tenn. leads Iowa State with 96 tackles.  He also has seven tackles for loss, an interception, a sack and has broken up three passes.

Blythe owns an ISU school record 16 TD receptions, compiled in just 23 games.  He has 46 receptions for 895 yards and seven touchdowns.  His 19.5 yards per reception ranks second nationally. Curvey has made 57 tackles this season, with eight tackles for loss and six sacks. Curvey, a junior from Houston, Texas, scored his third career touchdown Nov. 12 against Colorado on an interception return. Leaders, a senior from Omaha, Neb., owns 259 tackles, four blocked kicks, 14 1/2 sacks, five forced fumbles and has recovered five fumbles.  Hicks has started every game this season and has four interceptions to go with his 49 tackles and seven pass breakups.
