Last Time Out: Iowa State (4-1) bounced back from its first loss of the season against Iona with a 68-61 victory over intrastate rival Northern Iowa...the Cyclones did it in typical fashion, forcing turnovers and playing tough perimeter defense...ISU also shot well from the field and 3-point range, hitting 53.8 percent from the floor and 43.8 percent (7-16) from downtown...the Cyclones were led by Curtis Stinson, who scored 14 of his team-high 19 points in the second half...the Wooden and Naismith Award candidate, who leads the team in scoring at 19.6 ppg, tallied three steals and handed out three assists in the win...Stinson is tied for the team lead in steals at 2.4 spg...he is averaging 3.3 steals per game in the last three contests...Stinson's backcourt partner Will Blalock had a monster game despite scoring a season-low five points...Blalock recorded 10 assists with no turnovers and two was Blalock's third double-digit assist game of his three-year career and second this season...he leads the team in assists at 7.4 apg and has an outstanding 3.7 a/t turnover ratio (37/10)...his career 2.0 a/t ratio is one of the best in school a team, the Cyclones have had more assists than turnovers in all but one game, registering a 1.47 a/t ratio (96/65)...the Cyclones got a major boost from senior Anthony Davis, who poured in a career-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor...Davis tied a career high with three treys, including a trifecta with 3:29 left in the game that gave ISU a comfortable 11-point lead...freshman Shawn Taggart continued to provide instant offense from off the bench...Taggart scored 10 points, his third double-digit effort this season, on a 5-of-7 effort from the field...Taggart is one of five Cyclones currently averaging in double figures at 11.0 ppg...he is doing his scoring damage in only 18.6 minutes per game.

Fresno State owns a 2-1 mark as it enters Hilton Coliseum...the Bulldogs are fresh from a 85-69 defeat at Buffalo Wednesday night...Dwight O'Neil led FSU with 18 points...the Bulldogs defeated Cal-Poly on the road (85-77) and Oregon State (80-73) in its previous two games...FSU is led by junior Ja'Vance Coleman...the 6-3 guard is averaging 21.3 this season and has made eight 3-pointers to lead the team...Coleman, who is a preseason all-WAC pick after averaging 16.9 points last season, scored a career-high 27 points at Cal-Poly and netted 24 vs. Oregon State...he has scored 20 or more points in five of his last six games dating back to last season...junior Quinton Hosley has been a huge addition to the Bulldogs after earning first-team Division I JUCO All-America honors last year at Lamar Community College...Hosley, a 6-6 forward from Harlem, N.Y., is averaging 17.3 ppg, including a career-high 29 points in the season-opener vs. Cal-Poly...Hosley also leads the team in steals (1) and rebounds (7.0)...sophomore point guard Kevin Bell rounds out FSU's outstanding backcourt...the 5-10, Los Angeles, Calif., native is averaging 8.7 points and leads the team in assists with seven...he scored 15 second-half points vs. Oregon State to help the Bulldogs overcome an 11-point deficit...the Bulldogs play a similar style to Iowa State, pressing and creating an up-tempo game...their 42.6 percent team field goal percentage is offset by recording 34 steals in three games.

Roomates Reunite

A matchup between two former roommates will occur Saturday night...FSU's Donovan Morris and ISU's Curtis Stinson were roommates while attending Winchendon Prep School in Massachusetts...even though they are from opposite coasts (Morris is from San Bernardino, Calif. and Stinson is from the Bronx, N.Y.), they formed a friendship while playing together at Winchendon...Morris was a junior when Stinson was a senior at Winchendon (2002-03)...the pair helped the school achieve a 23-10 mark.

Blalock Vs. Bell-- Two Of The Nation's Best Set-Up Men Square Off

Two of the nation's best assist men will go head-to-head this weekend in Iowa State's Will Blalock and Fresno State's Kevin Bell...Blalock ranks sixth nationally in assists (7.4 apg) and Bell is one spot behind in seventh place at 7.3 apg...Blalock, who also leads the Big 12 in dimes, has two double-digit assist games this season, including a 10-assist, 0-turnover game against UNI on Tuesday...Bell recorded 11 assists and four turnovers vs. Buffalo Wednesday.
