The Cyclones will see new faces on squad during the 2006-07 season. Swimmers Lindsey Behrens and Abigail Glaser and diver Tien Tran have signed national letters of intent with the Cyclones to compete next season.
Lindsey Behrens joins the swimming squad from Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Behrens was named most valuable player all four years of high school and was named Regional Swimmer of the Year as a sophomore. Behrens also earned medals at the state meet during her sophomore, junior and senior years. As a sophomore she placed sixth in the 100 free, junior sixth in the 200 individual medley and fifth in the 100 breaststroke and as a senior she placed fourth in both the 200 individual medley and the 100 free and sixth in the 200 free relay. Behrens is a member of the Council Bluffs Swim Club and participated in the sectional meet in Oklahoma City this past summer. She qualified for six different events during the meet. Behrens has made high honor roll, lettered in academics, is a member of the Academic All State team, an officer for student council and is a member of National Honor Society.
Abigail "Abby" Glaser from Rosary High School in Elburn, Ill., will join the Cyclones after appearing in the state swim meet in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. In 2005 Glaser placed fifth in the 50 free and in the 200 free relay and 10th in the 100 free. During the 2004 meet she finished second in the 400 free relay, third in the 50 free and 200 free relay and fifth in the 100 free. in 2003 Glaser came in thrid in both the 200 and 400 free relays and finished fifth in the 50 free. Glaser placed third in both the 200 and 400 free relay and 10th in the 100 free during the 2002 state meet. Glaser earned honors as an All-American and All-State in 10 events and was named team captain in 2005. She set the school record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.86 and in the 200 free relay (1:35.64). Glaser is a member of the Academy Bullets Swim Team coached by Bill Schalz. The 2005 Speedo Short Course Women's Sectional Team Champion was also the long course team champion in 2004. She is also the Speedo Sectional record holder in the 400 meter free relay with a time of 3:56.27. Glaser qualified for the junior nationals. Glaser was elected to student counsel in 2004, received a community service award, named to the Academic All-Conference in 2004, has been a Latin Club Officer in 2002, 2003 and 2004, scholar athlete and a National Geographic Geography Bee finalist.
Tien Tran is from Greenwood, Ind. and attended Center Grove High School. As a junior Tran won conference, placed third and sectionals, fourth at regionals and seventh at state. During her sophomore year Tran finished Conference in second place, was named All-Conference, placed third at sectionals and fourth at regionals. As a freshman Tran placed sixth at sectionals. Tran is a member of the Indiana Diving Team and placed 23rd at the Winter National meeet and 20th in the first round at the Summer Nationals during 2004-05. During high school Tran has earned honors such as qualifying for Who's Who Among American High School Students all four years, is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society and has made the National Honor Roll for two years. Tran has maintained a 3.81 GPA and is planning on majoring in business, marketing or advertising.
