Lyndsey Medders led all scorers with 24 points, while Brittany Wilkins posted her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds ... Megan Ronhovde recorded 12 rebounds, the fourth time she has pulled down double-digit caroms this year, while Lisa Bildeaux came off the bench to collect a career-best 10 boards ... the Cyclones used a six-player rotation for the second time this season.
After starting the season 3-1, UC Riverside has dropped three-straight games ... the Highlanders are 0-3 on the road this season with losses at Pepperdine (51-44), Northern Arizona (71-62) and Fresno State (67-50) ... Bumps and Bruises
Seirra Dawson underwent surgery Nov. 18 to remove bone fragments in her elbow and will be out indefinitely ... Rachel Pierson has played in just one regular-season game (North Carolina State), missing action with a sore back ... Gillian Bjerke, who missed three weeks of preseason workouts with an ankle sprain, sat out the season opener after aggravating the sprain ... Heather Ezell was hospitalized for eight days in October with a staph infection ... doctors removed her appendix ... Ezell was placed on intravenous antibiotics for nearly two weeks, restricting any contact drills or scrimmaging in practice ... she returned to full practice Nov. 5, missing exactly four weeks of action.
In the Dec. 12 NCAA statistics, junior point guard Lyndsey Medders led the nation with 9.8 assists per game ... she own three games with double-digit assists this season ... she earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors Dec. 5 after scoring a career-best 32 points against Drake ... Medders was a preseason all-Big 12 Conference honorable mention selection by the league's coaches ... the Los Angeles native also earned preseason second-team All-America recognition from Women's Basketball News Service ... Medders is ISU's top returning scorer from a year ago and ranked second in the league in assists (6.69 apg).
Freshmen Heather Ezell and Nicky Wieben have started every game this season ... Ezell, who is ISU's third-leading scorer (13.0 ppg), had a breakout game against Akron, pouring in a career-best 27 points ... she was one 3-pointer shy of the Hilton Coliseum record with seven treys, including 6-of-6 shooting in the first half ... Ezell is averaging a team-best 36.7 minutes played per game ... Wieben had a career game against instate foe Iowa, posting her first collegiate double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds ... seven of her boards were offensive ... Wieben, who ranked 18th nationally with 2.8 blocks per game last week, already ranks fifth on ISU's freshman single-season blocks list.
