The Cyclones picked up a commitment from a JUCO offensive lineman on Sunday. Read about it here as Ahtyba Rubin talks about his commitment.
A big target for Coach
Dan McCarney and his staff at Iowa State in
the Class of 2006, Trinity Valley offenisve lineman Ahtyba Rubin
(6'3.5 290) gave the Iowa State Cyclones a verbal commitment last evening.
"I just felt that there
was no school that did a better job recruiting me," said Rubin. "Iowa State was the best fit for me, and I knew
there was no reason to drag this on any further. I called Coach McCarney last
night, and he was very excited. He told me it would be his privilige to coach me
as a Cyclone, and they were looking forward to having me a part of the program."
Rubin took an official
visit to TCU this weekend, and thought of the Cyclones on the entire trip. The
Pensacola, Florida native says he is "100%" Cyclone.
"I'm done taking trips,
and I'm a Cyclone all the way," added Rubin, who will graduate in May and have
two years of eligibility remaining. "I really liked the players at Iowa State, it was a great atmosphere, and a
great community. Coach (Barney) Cotton just did such a great job recruiting me,
and I'm looking forward to playing under him."
This isn't likely the
only news for Cyclone fans as Iowa State hosted more than 10 official
visitors this weekend. Stay tuned to coverage from Scout.com all day
