Heather Ezell was hospitalized for eight days in October with a staph infection ... doctors removed her appendix ... Ezell was placed on intravenous antibiotics for nearly two weeks, restricting any contact drills or scrimmaging in practice ... she returned to full practice Nov. 5, missing exactly four weeks of action.

Medders Matters
In the Dec. 20 NCAA statistics, junior point guard Lyndsey Medders led the nation with 9.4 assists per game (she is currently averaging 9.6 apg) ... she owns four games with double-digit assists this season ... she earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors Dec. 5 after scoring a career-best 32 points against Drake ... Medders was a preseason all-Big 12 Conference honorable mention selection by the league's coaches ... the Los Angeles native also earned preseason second-team All-America recognition from Women's Basketball News Service ... Medders is ISU's top returning scorer from a year ago and ranked second in the league in assists (6.69 apg).

Fantastic Frosh
Freshmen Heather Ezell and Nicky Wieben have started every game this season ... Ezell, who is ISU's third-leading scorer (12.8 ppg), had a breakout game against Akron, pouring in a career-best 27 points ... she was one 3-pointer shy of the Hilton Coliseum record with seven treys, including 6-of-6 shooting in the first half ... Ezell is averaging a team-best 36.1 minutes played per game ... Wieben had a career game against instate foe Iowa, posting her first collegiate double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds ... seven of her boards were offensive ... Wieben, who ranked 19th nationally with 2.6 blocks per game last week, already ranks fifth on ISU's freshman single-season blocks list (23).

Iowa State has made at lease one 3-pointer in 313 consecutive games dating back to 1995 ... that streak ranks nationally behind Cleveland State, Drake and Miami (Ohio) ... the school record for 3-pointers made in a game is 18 (vs. Missouri, Feb. 19, 2000) ... Megan Ronhovde sank 6-of-6 triples vs. Colorado last season, adding three more consecutive baskets from outside in the next game vs. Texas for a string of 11-straight 3-pointers.
