Florida's Bowens Talks Recruiting

Florida wide receiver Donald Bowens has made two trips up to the Midwest for official visits. Bowens visited both Indiana and Iowa State and is currently still talking to both schools. The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder, will be taking it easy during the holiday season and then it's back on the road for two January official visits.

"I've been to both Iowa State (11-11) and Indiana (11-4)," Donald Bowens said. "I enjoyed both visits; I'd have to say that if I had to pick either Iowa State or Indiana that it would probably be Iowa State.

"I still like Indiana but I had a better visit with Iowa State and I felt a little more comfortable on my Iowa State official visit. Everything at Iowa State was centered around the team and I liked that a lot.

"Iowa State had real nice facilities and I got a long with everyone real good. The campus was real nice. It was just a real good visit."

What does January have in store for Bowens?

"I don't have dates set yet but I'm definitely setting up visits with North Carolina State and Virginia." Bowens said.

"Both schools have offered me a scholarship. Most of my offers are from out-of-state so distance won't be a factor in my decision. I'm just looking for the best fit. I wouldn't say I have a leader. I'll probably have a better idea on things later next month."

Bowens was a four-year varsity starter for St. Petersburg High. He was a defensive back and linebacker as a freshman and led his team in tackles. He also lined at wide receiver as freshman and played that position for four years.

Bowens had 27 receptions for 450 yards and five touchdowns as a senior. He was named the team most valuable player on defensive and was an all-conference selection at wide receiver.
