ISU Headed for National Duals in Cedar Falls

Iowa State's (7-2, 0-0 Big 12) eighth-rated wrestling team will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa, to compete in the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals Saturday and Sunday. The Cyclones open competition Saturday at 11 a.m. against No. 13 Northwestern in the UNI-Dome. ISU returns to wrestle in the national dual meet after not participating in the tournament last season. Iowa State is coming off a sweep at the Sun Devil Duals in Tempe, Ariz., last weekend.

Iowa State, seeded seventh in the duals, will face the unseeded Wildcats (4-0) at 11 a.m. Northwestern boasts ranked wrestlers at 125, 141, 165, 174, 184, 197 and 285. In their last meeting, at the 1999 National Duals, ISU won, 26-19. The Cyclones own the all-time series with Northwestern, 15-0.

There will be 16 mats of action in the UNI-Dome with over 80 teams wrestling within seven divisions. In the mix of division I schools is top-ranked and top-seeded Oklahoma State, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Michigan, Iowa, Central Michigan, Missouri, Kent State, Arizona State, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Cornell, Northern Iowa, and Hofstra.
