Shawn Gerard is a 6'3, 195 pound linebacker out of North Scott High School in Eldridge, Iowa. Gerard attended Iowa State's Junior Day a few weeks back and was very impressed all the way around with Iowa State, especially the facilities.

"It went really well. I had a great chance to get to know the coaches and talk to them for a little bit. It was exciting just walking around campus. The weight room was probably the best part of the day," said Gerard.

Along with the impressive facilities, Gerard was impressed by the family atmosphere at Iowa State.

"They all come together and it's like a big family. They're all in it together and they all have one goal and that's to win a national championship."

Gerard is currently receiving attention from Iowa and Wyoming along with the Cyclones though he hasn't received an offer from any of the schools yet. Gerard is planning on going to the Iowa and Iowa State camps this summer to up his value with those teams.

"The said that they were going to keep evaluating me and wait until camp to see how it goes from there," said Gerard.

Right now Gerard is projected to be a linebacker at the next level but he also said that he's open for changes if that's what it takes.

"I'd like to stay at linebacker but I'd be open to playing defensive line too."

In his junior season for North Scott, Gerard recorded 103 tackles, 11 of which were for a loss and three fumble recoveries for his 7-3 team that lost in the quarterfinals of the playoffs.

"I'd like to know all of my options before I commit anywhere. I want to see what's out there and what's available. Hopefully around the time of my senior season or during that time I can commit somewhere."
