Killeen is the first ISU player to earn the award since the 2003 season (Katie Ruby - April 15), while Ford became the first Cyclone in school history to win pitcher of the week accolades.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Killeen compiled a .542 hitting average with three home runs and 15 RBI to lead Iowa State to a 7-0 record and first-place finish at the Charleston Southern Tournament. Against Charleston Southern, Killeen hit a grand slam and a two-run homer, which accounted for the second six-RBI game of her career. The Papillion, Neb. native posted 13 hits and a slugging percentage of 1.000 percent on the week. She also contributed eight runs and two doubles, while Killeen threw out four of six baserunners on defense.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Amie Ford, Iowa State, P, So., Katy, Texas
Ford threw the first ISU no-hitter since the 1998 season when she held Vermont hitless on Friday. She recorded a 3-0 mark with a 0.67 ERA and allowed seven hits in three games. Ford also struck out 34 hitters while recording 10-plus K's in each game. The Katy, Texas native held her opponents to a .103 batting average and allowed just two earned runs in 21 innings.
