Liz Grajewski placed second on floor exercise with a 9.8 and finished second in the all-around with a 38.225. The Hawks are ranked in the Top 30 in just one event, the vault, where they hold a 48.625 average ... Iowa State is 43-21 all-time vs. Iowa and has defeated the GymHawks in 24-of-the-last-25 meetings and is 16-4 in Hilton Coliseum ... ISU defeated Iowa 195.700-193.375 back on Jan. 28 in Iowa City, clinching the annual Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series for Iowa State University ... the Cyclones swept all four team events and took three outright individual titles and tied for one in the earlier matchup between the two schools.

Anson tied her own score for the second-highest vault in school history ... the Kansas City, Mo., native, and Shelly Kringen (1999-2002) hold the only perfect 10s on vault in school history ... Anson recorded her 10 back on 3-14-04 in Lincoln, Neb.
Cyclones Win at Nebraska, Make History
Iowa State gymnastics squad became the first team to defeat Nebraska in the Bob Devaney Sports Center since 1993, winning 196.250-196.125 ... the Huskers had won 60-consecutive home meets entering the matchup, but an impressive beam performance in the final rotation clinched the win for ISU ... the Cyclones won in Lincoln for the first time since Jan 14, 1978 ... Iowa State tied Nebraska 198.000-all back on March 14, 2004, while Michigan tied the Huskers 195.675 earlier this season, the only non-wins for NU since losing at the Master's Classic on March 1, 1993 ... including its win in Ames on Feb. 19, ISU is now 5-2-1 in its last eight meets with Nebraska.
With its win over then-No. 10 Nebraska, Iowa State has gone a perfect 4-0 vs. Big 12 schools in head-to-head duals for the first time in school history.

Senior Laura-Kay Powell competed in the all-around for the first time this season on March 3 vs. Minnesota ... the Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, native, scored a 39.150 her first time out vs. the Gophers and followed up with a 39.200 vs. Nebraska and a 38.950 vs. Arizona State ... Powell had not competed on bars due to a sore elbow and scored two 9.700s and a 9.750.
Cyclones Pull in Fourth Big 12 Gymnast of the Week
This week, junior Janet Anson was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for second-consecutive week, the third time this season and the fifth time in her career ... the Kansas City, Mo., native placed second in the all-around at No. 12 Arizona State ... she also took second on vault (9.975) and floor (9.925) while placing fourth on bars (9.850) and fifth on beam (9.875) ... Anson notched a 9.975 on vault for the second consecutive week, finishing behind ASU's April Boone who recorded a perfect 10 ... Anson won the all-around vs. Minnesota (March 3), winning or tying every event but bars ... in consecutive weeks prior to its first meet at Minnesota, Iowa State had a gymnast win Big 12 Gymnast of the week honors ... for the week of Feb. 21, it was Senior Erin Dethloff who garnered the award, taking the all-around, bars and beam titles vs. Nebraska and winning both vault and bars vs. Oregon State ... Dethloff posted season-highs on vault (9.900) and floor (9.875) over the weekend and her 9.925 on bars vs. OSU is the highest score on that event for any ISU competitor this season ... Anson took the award the previous week (Feb. 13) as she won the all-around (season-high 39.425) and vault (9.900, season high) in ISU's upset over No. 6 Oklahoma ... the junior also tied for second on bars (9.850) and tied for third on floor (9.875).
The 2006 Cyclones had improved their team score in almost every competition so far this season ... in its 11 meets so far this season, ISU has gone from a 194.050 at the Super Six to a 197.000 recently at Arizona State, almost three full points of improvement ... with its 197.000 score at Arizona State, ISU has scored 196.000 or higher in eight -consecutive duals.
Floor and Beam Teams One of the Best in the
With its 49.150 beam and 49.300 floor scores at Arizona State, the ISU beam and floor teams are now ranked second and third in the nation (beam RQS=49.105; beam RQS=49.135) ... the Cyclone beam squad trails only SEC power Georgia, who is ranked first in all four team events.
Rankings Now Based on RQS
Starting Feb. 20, teams and gymnasts are ranked by a Regional Qualifying Score (RQS). An RQS is based on a team's top six regular-season scores, with three scores coming from away meets. To obtain the RQS, the team's or gymnast's highest score is dropped and the remaining five scores are averaged. Unlike other collegiate athletic rankings, collegiate gymnastic rankings are not based on wins and losses or votes. Gymnastics teams are ranked by their meet scores alone. From Jan. 9-Feb. 16, teams were ranked by their total season average.
The fourth-ranked Cyclones 5-1 in gymnastics road duals ... before its meet vs. Minnesota, Iowa State returned to Hilton Coliseum for its first home meet vs. Oregon State and had not competed in Ames since a Jan. 13 victory over Illinois ... prior to the OSU meet, ISU had been on the road for three-consecutive meets and came away victorious in all of them, including upsetting the No. 7 and No. 6 ranked schools in Missouri and Oklahoma in back-to-back weeks.
The Friendly Confines
Iowa State has won 16-consecutive home meets dating back to 2004 and has defeated Illinois, Oregon State, Nebraska and Minnesota in its four meets at Hilton Coliseum.
ISU had struggled on the beam prior to its conference opening dual at Missouri ... the Cyclones are now ranked second in the country ... Iowa State scored a season-high 49.250 vs. Minnesota and clinched ISU's first win over Nebraska since 1978 with a 49.150 on beam ... the Cyclones posted a 49.050 at Minnesota ... Iowa State defeated a strong beam squad in No. 19 Oregon State 48.950-48.375 ... Big 12 Gymnastics 10th Anniversary Team
The Big 12 is selecting 10th anniversary teams for its sports in 2005-06 in celebration of its 10th Anniversary season. The Gymnastics team will be selected by the league's head coaches and announced on March 22. In order to be eligible for the ballot, gymnasts must have won an event title at a conference championship.
