Blalock: I was back at spring break and I got like 80 calls saying that we were going to get a new coach and I didn't know how to take it.
It's looking pretty good now though right?
Blalock: Yeah it looks pretty good.
You were pretty dead set on not coming back. Why the change of tone?
Blalock: I'm still going to keep my option open as school because it's the most important thing right now. If the NBA is for me then it's for me but if it's not I'll be right back here. That's how I look at it right now. I have a lot of stuff that I need to talk about with my family first before I make my final decision.
So you definitely won't hire an agent?
Blalock: I definitely won't hire an agent because I don't want to screw up my eligibility. I'm going to definitely keep my option open to come back.
What were your initial impressions of Coach McDermott?
Blalock: He's a fighter and as far as I know he's a winner. That's what really stuck out in my mind. And he's tall. That's the only thing that I really got out of knowing him but he seemed like a great guy and I look forward to really knowing him in person.
(Shawn Taggart appears holding a Gatorade bottle for a microphone)
Taggart: How tall are you really?
(laughter by both)
What are some of the things that you remember about playing Coach Mac?
Blalock: They really had a fluid offense. They play a lot of team ball and they're really good. They killed us one year so I don't really want to talk about that. (laughter) He always had really competitive teams that are what I really noticed about him.
