ISU Plays Host to Drake In First Game of Home

Iowa State looks to avenge a 3-2 loss the Drake two weeks ago when they face off on Tuesday at Southwest Athletic Complex in the first game of a five-game homestand. The Cyclones have not lost two straight to the Bulldogs since they dropped a 1994 doubleheader to their intrastate rival.

Quickly: Tuesday's game marks the start of a five-game home stand. ISU will play 11 of its next 12 games at Southwest Athletic Complex ... The Cyclones dropped a pair of games at Texas Tech to fall to 1-3 on the week. The lone win came at Northern Iowa ... The loss to Drake on March 29 snapped Iowa State's 15-game winning streak against the Bulldogs ... The Cyclones are 0-3 at home this season. They haven't lost a home game to Drake since (15 games) April 2, 1981, a 6-5 loss ... Ashley Killeen has 29 RBI this season. Her previous high for a season was last year when she recorded 21 RBI in 50 games. Killeen is tied for fourth all-time at ISU in RBI (69). The junior is just 19 RBI short of tying the school record ... Ashley Killeen is leading the Cyclones with an impressive .412 (14-for- 34) batting average with runners in scoring position ... Alyssa Ransom is 2-0 all-time against Drake and hasn't allowed a run in the last 6.2 innings against the Bulldogs ... Cary Akins is three hits shy of 100 on her career.

Scouting the Bulldogs: The Bulldogs are 2-5 since their 3-2 win over the Cyclones two weeks ago, including a 1-2 effort at Illinois State this weekend. Drake bounced back to win the Sunday game, 5-1, behind a 4-for-4 effort from centerfielder Emily Hajduk. In the win, the Bulldogs pounded out 12 hits to take advantage of a strong performance from Jessica Hicks, who held the Redbirds to just one run on four hits while striking out eight batters.

Shanna Cook (.304) and Lindsay Larry (.301) are the only Bulldog hitters batting over .300 with Cook leading the team with 20 RBI on the year.

Hicks leads Drake with an 8-9 record and a 3.23 ERA as the primary starter for the Bulldogs.

100 Hit Club: Ashley Killeen recorded the 100th hit of her career with a sixth inning single against Northern Iowa. The junior is also tied for fourth all-time at ISU with 69 career RBI.

All-Time Starts Leader: Junior Alyssa Ransom became the Iowa State all-time leader in games started with her 73rd start against Texas. The Round Rock, Texas native, is closing in on a number of other categories. Check out page seven of this packet for a breakdown of the records she is closing in on.

Extra Innings Not So Special: Iowa State is 0-2 in extra inning games after falling in eight to Texas Tech. The Cycloens dropped a nine inning game earlier this year to Stetson. Last season, ISU went just 1-5 in extra inning ball games.
